view N900 files from PC (acess to /USR)

How can I acess all the files on the N900 via PC?

Not just the images videos etc.

I'm wanting to acess some folders to pull all the icons to mod.

Copy the files using the x terminal into MyDocs, or use SCP in some fashion to transfer the files.

Well, depending on your proficiency, you could be asking for trouble.

Anyway, if you are using Windows, install the ssh server on your device as per instructions elsewhere, and then install WinSCP on your PC. Use WinSCP to log in as root on the device and you will be able to browse (or screw up) your N900's rootfs as you wish. Using the default editor (IIRC, been a long time) is a good plan, as it gets the line endings right - a normal windows editor will probably screw them up.

On a Mac, TextWrangler (or BBEdit - it's paid-for variant) is the way forward, as it has native support for SFTP (provided by the SSH server).

Hope this helps.

FWIW WRT Mac apps, I've been using ForkLift to connect to the device and browse the directories, and TextWrangler for edits. Works like a charm.
