This is a known issue that is fixed in the next firmware :)

Re: Mplayer widget after restart
Just a note that mplayer is the name of a specific optional media player that runs on many platforms, including n900/maemo.
Your post provides the information that you are writing about the built in media player, but the title may confuse readers and limit the number that might even read your post. |
Re: Mplayer widget after restart
Mplayer is crap...sometimes for no reason...it stops playing and only work when you got rid of it and re-added to the desktop. This issue has NOT BEEN resolved under the current firmware update which i AM SHOCKED!! I can NOT BELIEVE they're not aware of the issue let alone fixing it!!

Re: Mplayer widget after restart
Shock must be the reason you missed the point:
"the problam (sic) is if i put it back it removes al the widgets from the current view i am on" He's not talking about the "play doesn't work" issue. |
Re: Mplayer widget after restart

Re: Mplayer widget after restart
mplayer is a joke like many other software touched by Nokia. The N900 was supposed to be an iphone killer product but so far it's been a great product with many buggy software pre-installed just like any other stuffs that Nokia released. I am currently working with Nokia mobile base stations and they have great hardware but their software is a big let down just like their top end mobile handset that came with crappy software.
I am highly disappointed after i bought the N900 as the software that came with this phone is highly unstable, for example bluetooth connection frequently drops out the same way like the E71 did, and then it would hang up the call after bluetooth connection drop out, called back to the caller and can't hear anything even bluetooth is turned off. Had to power cycle the phone to get it working again just like the software Nokia deployed on their base stations - if all else fail just power cycle it! Mplayer is a big let down because I recorded some video on the phone and often I play the video back using mplayer on the handset and mplayer often refuse to playback the video captured by the phone itself. I hope that the Nokia software developer team in Finland would get their act together as this is not the right way to win the customer's experience doesn't matter how good your hardware design is. Or else the Google Nexus One would take over your market share pretty soon. |

Either way, please stay on topic and if you have any bugs as you described above, please report them here: https://bugs.maemo.org/ We're not nokia and honestly no one cares about your complaints in this topic - please report them as bugs. And for the last time: Mplayer is a an audio/video player engine, it doesn't even have a user interface: http://www.mplayerhq.hu/ Mplayer is available for N900 too and it needs a GUI: KMplayer or SIB. The default media player on N900 has a widget, that allows it to be controlled from the desktop. The widget has to be reset if the phone is restarted and it removes the other widgets with it - it's a bug already adressed in the next update. If you don't like the default media player you can choose: -Mplayer -Canola2 -GPE audio player -MediaBox media player -ukmp |
