How to input foreign characters?

How do I input characters like the percentage sign on my n900? I did a quick forum search but didn't find anything relevant.

Thanks

Blue arrow key at far left of keyboard, blue Sym key above that. An onscreen keyboard then pops up.

Press Fn and Cntrl together and you will open the onscreen keyboard of additional characters. Tap the one you want.

Note the third row are 'dead' characters which you need to insert a space after before they will appear.
