Well, given that there are sent messages to be synced in the first place, I take it that "Nothing works" is an exaggeration. I've heard of people having a lousy time with the e-mail app, although my personal experience has been quite good.
Aside from that, though, with all due respect, this post is completely useless unless you want to incite a flamewar. If you find a concrete bug ("it doesn't work" is NOT concrete), then head over to bugs.maemo.org and file it (first searching to make sure it isn't already filed). If you have a suggestion, send it to Brainstorm. If you want to rant and exaggerate, then do it on your blog - not here.
It was made fairly clear early on that the N900 wasn't idiot-proof. I've seen some bugs that made me *facepalm*, and as a programmer I've seen some things that were a bit painful. I knew that going in, and I wouldn't trade it for any phone out there. Presumably you bought an N900 instead of (or at the very least, as well as) an iPhone, and presumably there were reasons for that. If you like Apple's design, go with Apple. If you think they, others, or yourself have some good design ideas, then you're encouraged to suggest them to Nokia, who in my experience is a lot more accessible for that sort of thing than most companies. If you had some misconceptions, that's too bad, but it's hardly a reason to call the whole Maemo division incompetent - that's both inaccurate and rude.
