Theme: Applenvy pre-release
 

A while ago when I wanted to buy a Nokia 770, I came here and posted asking some questions. And since I do have graphic design skills, I figured that since you helped me, I should give something back to the community.

Also, I don't like the default theme.

• This is just a pre-release, there's lots of missing bits here and there.
• Site works on Nokia 770.
• It's based on the LCARS theme from http://synthesize.us which is a great theme
• It changes the status bar icons since ThemeMaker 0.90 supports it (yay!)
• It looks neat

It's called Applenvy because I like Apple's interface design, and I wish I could get a team from Apple to work on my Nokia 770 .. but in the meantime, I wanted an Apple-like theme.

I know there have been previous Apple themes, but this Apple theme aims to capture the design phase that Apple is currently beginning. Smooth metal, sunken elements and grey-blue colors like those featured in iTunes 7.

I may make a theme closer to the iPhone's theme if I deem it possible (iPhone uses a lot of transparent glossy black)

I heard from Ian Ryge (dev of LCARS theme) that OS 2007 isn't too much different from OS 2006. But I don't have enough dough to buy a N800, so there's no OS 2007 support planned. But it's released under the GPLv2, so someone can play with it and get it to work.


One more thing ... there's a big element missing in my theme: scroll bar arrows. Yes, that's right. There's no arrows at either end of the scroll bars. I don't personally use them, and I prefer to scroll my dragging the scroll bars instead of constantly tapping a small arrow to get somewhere. So they will actually work .. but they have no visual representation.

Black text on dark blue (selected item in the left side tree) equals invisible, practically speaking.

That's a pretty slick theme you've got going there shrimp. I like it a lot. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Yup, that's leftover from the LCARS theme ... and if you go to the Applenvy site, I have selectors under "areas of improvement"

I guess I may have implied that, but it's not exactly true... Unfortunately the theme changes in the new OS are significant enough that theme developers will have to release separate versions if they want to support both devices.

2006 themes will install on the 2007 OS, but there are a number of broken UI elements. Some image names have been changed for no apparent reason, and some images which used to be separate have been combined. There are differences in the gtkrc file as well. I can't see a reason for any of the changes (since they don't seem to alter any functionality of the UI), but I wouldn't mind them at all if Nokia would release the new OS for the "old" devices... Alas, it seems that isn't happening.
