N800 Battery Test: 5 hours running Media Player
Ran "Road to Ruin" audio clip on Media player (in a loop) to see how long a full charge battery would last. Results were 5 hours. I had the screen turn off and low volume with headset that came with N800. Bluetooth and wlan were off.

Re: Battery Test: 5 hours running Media Player
You must admit though, tht is not really a functional real world test.
I mean, who in their right mind would actually be listening to an audio track non-stop for 5-16 hrs? AnAnd.- was internet connection inadvertently on during this time? y point is that for all actual intensive purposes, I have noticed that my N800 lasts just as long as my 770 while doind just about the same things for the same amount of time....notwithstanding the processor speed improvements. |
Re: Battery Test: 5 hours running Media Player
I can easily imagine myself listening to music/podcasts/audio books and whatnot on a long plane ride for that long. In fact, I plan on taking my n800 on the plane ride to Puerto Vallarta from Seattle this Monday. A 3x diminution in battery life compared to a previous model is a big deal. A lot of people have discussed how with up to 8 GB of storage (and more on the way with presumed SDHC support) and the side mounted stereo out plug, the n800 has excellent possibilities to replace your DAP/iPod entirely in your gadget bag. Now with these revelations about battery life, the future of the n800 as a multimedia device isn't looking quite as bright...

Re: Battery Test: 5 hours running Media Player
Oh, btw, my iRiver H320 is still the best mp3 player I have used to date. Amongst other things, with the Rockbox firmware and a Newertech 2200mah battery, I get greater than 30 hours of playback time in RW playback scenarios. Thats with a hard drive based player, btw. The n800 doesn't have to deal with power sucking hard drives, so what is its excuse?

2) it doesn't have a 2200 mAh battery That's why I also play mp3s on my H340, not on my 770... |
