SSH tunnel on demand for email smtp?
 

Hi,

I need to use the smtp server of one of my email accounts through an ssh tunnel since it only allows local connections. I'd like to have a solution that starts the tunnel on demand only when needed.

Does anybody have experience with something like that on Maemo/using modest?

• AFAIK, upstart does not (yet?) include inetd-like functionality? Is there something inetd-like already running in Maemo5?
• Maybe modest already supports a "pre-connection command", only not through the UI?
