Earpiece audio unstable
Hi all!
I am having a major issue with my N900. When people call me, more often than not, I can barely hear them, if even at all. Most times, the audio just magically comes back somehow, but other times I just end up plugging in my headphones as that gives me audio. Is this a known issue? Kind Regards |
Re: Earpiece audio unstable
We need more info though...
-Did you recently install any apps? -Might sound stupid but did you raise the volume while in a call? -Have you tried rebooting? |
Re: Earpiece audio unstable
I have a similar problem. I suspect it's a hardware issue in my case since a light thwack to the back of the phone behind the earpiece restores full volume...

Re: Earpiece audio unstable
I am also having this issue. At first I thought it was just a network issue, but I have it when I have full bars also. I have not installed any apps. I have rebooted (both using reboot and by shutting down and pulling the battery). It is intermittent, and it doesn't seem to correlate with uptime or location. Any other ideas on how to solve this?

Re: Earpiece audio unstable
My N900 is developing the same issue. It seems to be hardware-related, because applying a little pressure to the left side of the screen where the earpiece, LED, camera, and light sensor are, makes the volume come and go.

Re: Earpiece audio unstable
There is already another thread here:Call volume Dropping that discusses this. Also there is a formal bug reported.
People seem split 50/50 on their experiences as to whether it's a hardware or software issue. It's so mixed and varied that I suspect that there are both issues at play. |
Re: Earpiece audio unstable
I suspect it could be related to the GSM firmware update we got with PR 1.1. There's no way back from this, so nobody can test whether it would still occur with 42-11.

Re: Earpiece audio unstable
I´m experiencing this very same issue. For me it is clearly an hardware issue. At least in my particular case.
Looks like the earpiece ir not making a good connection. If you press the earpiece area or tap the back a little during a call if might start working. Using the speaker or headphones the sound is perfect. I´m taking my N900 to a Nokia dealer soon to ask for a warranty fix. |
