Alternative contact details direct from call log

Is anybody else missing the extra contact details that used to be provided when you clicked on a contact in the call log?

I know that we now get the ability to send an sms message - but why on earth remove the other call options to the contacts other numbers?

I know that you can keep your finger pressed to then open the contact card but this is excatly what everybody complained that you had to do for sms messages before PR1.1.

For me, they have fixed the sms issue and created an entriely new and equally irritiating one.

Rant over.

Try to click on the contact's pic while you are in the call log and the additional detials will pop up. They do this just so that we can see which number the call was received. Hope this helps

You don't have to hold, just click the picture on the left. It's way better now, you know which number was used to call you.

What picture on the left?

Re: Alternative contact details direct from call log

1. You see the number that called when tapping the log entry - Good.
2. You see a couple of other details if you tap the picture - Good.
3. You see even more details if you hold on the log entry and choose "Open contact card" - Good.

But how do I _really_ open the contact card? Both types of cards I can open using the methods above are crippled. How do I edit the contact? How do I merge the contact? And why are some of the details from #3 above hidden from #2?

Tapping the picture (again in #2, first time in #3), or holding on the contact, or something, should open the contact for editing and/or merging.

The reason I was having trouble clicking on the avator picture is that for the contact that I was clicking on there is no avatar image (or blank blue image)!

I tried clicking on another call log entry and the contact image is there on the left but the original entry that does actually have a picture when you open the contact card fully, displays nothing on the left...

I have done a bit pf playing around and found that no contact avatar is displayed if any of the phone numbers have spaces in them. eg) '01234 56789' instead of '0123456789'.

I can only assume that this is a bug and will file a report.

@shrubbery: Please see attached image. If your contact has additional details, there'll be a white frame surrounding the avatar, clicking on it will bring up the additional details. Likewise, if the contact only has one number, there'll be no white frame around the avatar/blue image, and clicking it will do nothing.

edit: hmm.. how did you add a space in between numbers in the first place? I tried to do that but I wasn't allowed to enter a space on both keyboards

@Palleman: Unfortunately, at the moment, the OS only allows us to merge/add numbers that is not already in "contacts" if you do it under "call log", "Contacts" would be a better place if you want to edit or merge existing contacts

Re: Alternative contact details direct from call log

hwong_pz: you cannot add spaces to a number if editted from the N900 itself but if you synchronise your contacts (from Google for example) you can have spaces this way.

I feel that the fact that you can't add spaces from the N900 itself is also a bug.

I have now entered bug reports for both of these items but in the meantime editing all of my contacts (172 of them) no remove spaces....
