Wifi module in pain

My wifi has failed and my only hint is the messsage from the dmesg log when I try to connect or scan for access points (list comes up empty).

[ 120.789703] wl12xx spi4.0: firmware: requesting wl1251-fw.bin
[ 122.547485] wl1251: 151 tx blocks at 0x3b788, 35 rx blocks at 0x3a780
[ 122.547637] wl1251: firmware booted (Rev 4.0.4.3.6)
[ 122.548431] wl1251: WARNING RX: FW and host out of sync: -1
[ 122.548522] wl1251: WARNING curr ID:3, last ID inc:1
[ 122.565368] wl1251: WARNING curr ID:3, last ID inc:0
[ 122.588806] wl1251: ERROR TEST command answer error: 65535

does any wise wizard here know if I can test/sync/flash/poke the wifi module somehow?

I would hate to have to ship my unit from Iceland to the USA for service if I can fix this via firmware.

Re: Wifi module in pain

did it fail after updating/reflashing the firmware?
did you install any programs/apps?

Re: Wifi module in pain

I had recently upgraded to the latest OS (PR1.1). And I did install some apps after that using the new firmware (and wifi) which wiped all the apps I had previously installed.

Re: Wifi module in pain

your n900 is from the us and had us-firmware installed, right?
did you upgrade to a non-us firmware?
(and do you remember which apps these were?)

Re: Wifi module in pain

the orginal upgrade was by the Nokia upgrade tool. But after that I tried the global as well as the US versions.

I installed a number of apps. OpenVNC and an rdesktop app amongst them. unfortunetly I dont have a complete list. Those two are the only one I can remember that have anything with networking to do. Never launched them though.

Re: Wifi module in pain

maybe it's because of the different local versions!?
it seems to me that the system is expecting an other version/id as what is installed at the moment.

as far as i unterstand you, you reflashed your device with different versions and the error is still occuring?

did you read this page?

Yes that was the page I used for flashing.

Re: Wifi module in pain

I just recently bought an N900 from US and I have the same problem here. wlan did not work straight out of the box. Did a dmesg and the lines are exactly the same as freyr's. Then reflashed to latest global firmware and it is still showing the same error message. Is this a firmware or hardware issue?
