MicroB and Firefox add-ons

I noticed that the mozilla site recognizes microb as firefox 3.5.
Also any firefox add-on can be installed in microb and accessed for configuration.
However none of what I've tested so far seem to work:
Video capturing:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2254
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006

Or a very neat plug-in that will help you never miss a click:
https://addons.mozilla.org/de/mobile/addon/50422

So what makes them tick?
Do they need to be recompiled for ARM?
Do they need special compatibility fixes for microb?

I've always assumed that FF add-ons and microb were incompatible. However, last night I was also surprised that you could install some of those plugins. I didn't install any because I was deciding what would be really useful...Now I'm very interested in knowing if they work and what do we have to do to make them work.

Thanks for bringing that up.

AFAIK addons are not executables and they are not compiled. I may be worn :)

Re: MicroB and Firefox add-ons

Add-ons are usually xml and javascript files. Although there may be system components, depending on what they do.
Like some add-ons can be installed on linux but require some binary file, that works only under windows, to work. But I didn't see many of these.

When you download an add-on, xpi extension, file you can just unpack it. It's a zip file, if I remember correctly, and see what makes it tick. :)

So they should work on MicroB too. Maybe some things are added/missing from MicroB and that is causing problems with some of them.

@bec How do you install the extension mediaplayerconnectivity. When I try everything looks fine till it want's to restart browser and I get a message not compatible with MicroB 3.0

I'm in the same boat. I restart the browser and the plugin just disappears.

Took it directly from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/446

I can config every option (unlike greasemonkey that doesn't allow me to scroll) but it won't work, aka. no overlay is displayed on embedded videos.
I can reboot without issues though.

Disable other add-ons maybe they somehow interfere.

Either way this proves that we've got much more than a UI incompatibility since add-ons that should display in-page content don't work...

Maybe we should compare firefox greasemonkey & adblock plus with ours(from the repos)...

Re: MicroB and Firefox add-ons

The mobile add-ons is probably designed for Fennec's UI specifically and won't work with microB. And desktop addons don't even work on Fennec, so the idea that they would work on microB seems kinda wierd. I might be totally wrong though.

Try this one . . . it should work without any GUI problem because it adds the download links in the youtube webpage next to the video instead of in the browser

Re: MicroB and Firefox add-ons

Just as before...

Comments and tries are useless unless:

a) we take apart (7zip) an addon that works and a mozilla one
b) someone with experience notices this thread and ecides to help.
