what to rsync
 

hey guys

so i have been thinking lately on what to backup from my N900

but i can't seem to figure it out

i would like to rsync:
address book. with merged contact
calender
conversations chat log
bookmarks
app installed
custom config files (like for gpodder, witter and so on)

anybody knows a wiki link to where the files are? and howto restore them if i choose to reflash one day

The backup application of the N900 will handle most of that. So backup the file created by this application.

All config stuff should be in /home/user - so backup that. Better do a backup of /home ;).

As for the wiki, maybe try this.

okay but what commands does the backup function use

oh okay but that rsync script does that not copy all except(dev,media,proc,sys)

from what i can read i should just be doing a rsync of the
/home/user/.bookmarks
/var/lib/gconf/apps/telepathy/mc/accounts
/home/user/.osso-abook
/home/user/.config/gpodder
/home/user/.osso_rss_feed_reader

but that still leaves out calender and conversations log

This is done by the backup tool within maemo5. I don't know which functions that backup tool is using but it creates a zip file which you can also backup with rsync.

I for myself do a backup of "/", which means everything. But I exlcude dev,proc and sys.

okay and you do that just to be sure you have everything? just in case

I can tell you that witter stores its config in
/home/user/.witter
/home/user/.witteroauth
