Loosing contacts in IM account.

I'm using a few IM accounts in my N900 and one of them is Gadu-Gadu (Polish messenger).
All of my account works fine except for Gadu-Gadu. When I added GG numbers for my contacts, all of them were in Gadu-Gadu group in adress book. But after "a while" availiblity dots and text statuses gone away. After restarting the device all off my contacts were delinked from GG account (and no contacts in GG contacts group). I have to click on the contact to open its card, then click on GG button, and then attach it with exact GG accont (but I have only one and I don't have to do this in my other IM accounts). And then again after "a while" availiblity dots and text statuses gone away.
And that over and over again every time I restart the divice.

It is very annoying thing when you have 100+ contacts and you don't get messages from them because you don't have them in your contacts list (GG protocol limitations).

Maybe this problem appears in others IM protocols too but I don't have them all to test every one.

Working protocols use to "lock" their ID after assigning them to account. Gadu-Gadu don't do this....

Does anybody have some clues or maybe the same problem?

Re: Loosing contacts in IM account.

There is a bug report about contacts being unmerged in bugs.maemo.org already (might be FIXED already internally; no "me too!" comments please), plus probably some more threads in this forum... I don't think it's Gadu Gadu specific.

Well I can't tell that this bug describes my problem but should I post my comment about it in this bug report? Or maybe open a new bug?

The same problem here. I didn't find solution so instead I'm using Pidgin now. I guess that's a problem with Gadu-Gadu support in extra protocols plugin. Another issue is lack of invisible status.

No problems with Skype/GTalk.

Have anyone looked in it a little bit more?

Well, the problem in merging contacts is still the same but after latest update of extra protocols you can receive links and other stuff with not-merged GG contacts.
That makes GG in N900 useful again but you still must wonder sometimes who is this person that just wrote...

Maybe we can make app that will do this steps for us.

Unfortunately i don't have appropriate skills to do this... But maybe someone can? Or look into extra protocol a little bit more:)

Re: Loosing contacts in IM account.

I am not sure if anyone is still interested in or if the solution has been found already but I've had some problems making this work and while trying to find a solution I've come across this thread.

This is my 0.02. I do believe this problem is Gadu Gadu specific as Yahoo messenger, which is also an additional plug-in enabled through pingin, works fine as far as I am concerned. I have no idea why exactly this thing doesn't work properly but it looks to me that N900 doesn't pull the contact list from GaduGadu servers when you log in so it simply cannot automatically update the contacts stored in the phone. If you enable any other protocol (I tried Skype, Google and Yahoo), after logging in all the contacts are added to the contact list which doesn't happen in GG's case.
