Re: Edit word documents - still not possible?
abiword has been in extras-devel for quite some time now, and it should be able to edit .doc files (not sure about .docx).

Re: Edit word documents - still not possible?
Install easy debian and you should be able to edit them and convert them to pdf. It IS SLOW, but you can't expect it to be really fast it's only a phone. But work OKish.
Full office editing suite in your pocket? What more do you want? A cup of tea and a sandwich? |
Re: Edit word documents - still not possible?
Yeah Open Office through Easy Debian isn't too bad - slow to load and sluggish when editing at times, but perfectly usable...
Abiword should do the trick for you though... |

Re: Edit word documents - still not possible?
I just received my N900 today. I clicked on the Word to Go and it installed it, then asked me for my first and last name on the screen where you select to activate, buy, or begin trial version. I enter my name and click the trial button and it says i need to enter a valid email address. But there's no field to enter it. How do I begin the trial? Thanks.

Re: Edit word documents - still not possible?
Why not just get yourself a Google account and upload the Doc(X) to Google Documents? You can read it in "mobile" mode, which works well on a small screen, or edit it in regular mode. The only issue, if you can call it that, is that imported DocX files will export back out as Doc. It works fine on my N810... I can't see it being an issue on something with 3G connectivity. Time to move into the cloud... that's what connectivity is all about.
