Mini Projector to plug in to N900
 

Hi..
I just checked out this mini projector: http://www.amazon.com/gp/mpd/permalink/m2JTAIBFVBB71L and was wondering if anyone here has any experience with a mini projector.

Am thinking with this you might just need your n900 and the projector to be able to watch movies everywhere...? any ideas..?

Both seem to be even smaller - and cheaper.

Thanks HugoSon, they look interesting. Anyone ever used a pico projector? what is the quality like and which one did you use?

Looks like the 3M one could work, though the resolution doesn't match, its VGA 640x480 instead of the WVGA 480 x 800 that the N900 is. It has RCA/composite connectivity though its A/V port.

The other two from the Engadget links are USB devices so I doubt they would work without someone managing to at least get USB Host mode working.

I am used to this projector for my n900 or xps 1340 from dell. I recommend this small and handy projector at 800x600 for all

been thinking along the same lines.

check out the optoma pk301 resolution is 854x480

I've got an Aaxa M1 Plus (vga port as well as composite).

I've not yet used it with an N900 but its quite the charming mate with my N82 and my Asus O!Play

Hi Guys, from Singapore this time.

Gotta shout out about this new projector I bought,
it really fits the bill for being a short-throw road-warriors fantasy.

Got it at the Innovative shop in SIM LIM Square (5th floor)
here in Singapore
(The_Place to get anything computer-wise in SEAsia)

This thing is what I have been waiting for:
- 1024x768 native resolution
(means I can do full spreadsheets and real displays of geological data)

- using LED technology (no more turbine engine cooling fan noise)
and is lightweight on power consumption (runs on a 12v3a brick)

has HDMI, VGA, Composite and even a built-in tv-tuner input
It can also browse a USB source for images (jpg, +?) some videos
as well as display text documents, all by its lonesome self.
It looks like it is all based on an embedded linux with a file browser.

I was unable to test the tuner part other than to see it did try to
pick up local signals using a paper-clip antenna (nothing else handy!)
I did not check the HDMI port yet either (need to buy a cable)

I was more interested in this being a dual-purpose projector
being something I could use as an adequate standalone
projector for the N900 while also being adequate to use
at an acceptable resolution ( 800x600 is NOT acceptable)
with my mini-itx workhorse (i5, H55N, blah blah)

It has sort throw, which means the screen does not need to be
on the other end of the room.

It is also brighter than the other projectors (all 800x600, btw)

This same vendor has an even brighter 800x600 model
than the current competition,
For merely using with the n900 it might be even better
for the rest of you who can live with the higher -power consumption
(I require 12v power supplies due to my work being in absurd places),.

If you visit their website http://www.innovative.com.sg/
you can see the big brother of the one I bought advertised
(on this date ) for 899sgd.
It is actually the same unit with a better media player,
being able to play more file formats than the one I bought.

The one I got cost 699sgd due to its inability to play
USB data videos of the higher resolution
(which is simply not an issue if you are simply running the
projector off of the composite cable supplied with the n900)

The saving is 200sgd for basically the same unit,
and is only worth the extra money if you need to play
high-definition videos off of USB sticks.

It has speakers built-in, fwiw, as well as an audio out
for relaying audio from USB or tv-tuner input out to
external speakers etc.

Someone else may review this unit better,
but I am doing this from a very cramped location
and in a bit of a hurry to catch my next flight out.

Being truly portable can be quite frustratingly messy
if you really require horsepower and versatility.
