[Help Needed] Gateway Laptop Problem
Hey all,
I didn't know where to post this on the internet, but since I know this community is very helpful, maybe.. just maybe someone can help me out on this problem that I am facing.. My problem is with my Gateway 8510GZ Laptop.. It died on me, so I sent it to a repair shop to inspect the problem (I knew what the problem but I just had to make sure before I take an action).. It was the motherboard.. there was no power getting to a lot of places so the only solution was to change the motherboard.. So I did.. I just got the new motherboard today and I changed it, but now when I try to turn on the laptop.. The LEDs turns on (finally), and everything seems to be good (power-wise).. But, the problem now is that, the fans don't turn on, and the laptop doesn't boot.. So it just kinda powers on but it's still dead.. But I don't think it's from the motherboard since I just got it! So what can be causing this problem (my thoughts is the video card?) but even if it's the video card, shouldn't the laptop actually boot? And most imiportantly the fans would work?? Any help would be REAAALLYY appreciated.. Thanks in advance, P.S.: I tried looking the problem on the internet but couldn't really find a useful solution, I tried taking off the battery + AC Adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then plug everything back and turn on, but it was a no-go.. I also tried pressing and holding F1+F2+F3+F4+ENTER+Power Button, and again still no-go.. |
Re: [Help Needed] Gateway Laptop Problem
Are the motherboards the same? Same revision? Exact same model number? From the same kind of laptop?

Did you try an Alternate AC Adapter? It could simply be not getting enough power...

Re: [Help Needed] Gateway Laptop Problem
Hmm.. I just got back from work.. I'll try a different AC Adapter.. but the thing is that it charged the battery and now the battery is full.. so it should turn on from the battery without a problem.. but when I try to turn it on.. same problem happens.. So it imo it isn't the AC adapter?? But I am going to try another one just in case.. I have 3 at my house..
Update: I tried another AC Adapter.. Now the fans work when I press the power button.. like as soon as it powers on.. but then stops and doesn't move... and still no boot.. Update2: I got it to work.. It was a silly mistake.. I didn't tighten the one screw for the cpu which made the cpu not function correctly.. It now fully boots.. WOOT! |
