btw. I recommend using power search from right side of this forum. additionally i recommend renaming ONLY ApplicationShortcutApplet.png because then you will see icon background as you tap icon. |

Re: Losing the grey icon background
Please understand that someone provid hand held walk through every time one person wants something is quite labour intensive; better that you read some tutorials on linux, unix, command lines, terminals, shells, commands etc
However, here's a step by step: Open X Terminal type cd /usr/share/themes/ press return type ls for a directory listing decide which theme youre using (folder name) - alpha is the water splash, beta is the orange swirl, or maybe you have your own theme type cd [FOLDER_THEME_NAME]/images/ replacing italics with relevant folder , press return type mv ApplicationShortcutAppletPressed.png ApplicationShortcutAppletPressed.old to rename (move) the file type mv ApplicationShortcutApplet.png ApplicationShortcutApplet.old to rename (move) the file Quote:

Re: Losing the grey icon background
Thanks - maybe its time a central repository of this kinda coding could be appropriately dropped into for future reference? A lot of time spent endlessly searching wouldn't be necessary. Maybe some masterclasses?? For example putting some explanation around the coding.
I'm not sure who actually 'owns' maemo but certainly for myself and others (from having seen various threads running a similar 'help' theme) it would be a major benefit and might bring more to the N900 / maemo (Meego) world. However sadly suggestions within this forum seem to fall on deaf ears - MODS?! There have been a lot of suggestions that would have structured the forum a little better and help inexperienced users who don't really have an interest in coding like myself get more from it. To be honest I'd have been quite happy looking through some tutorials but I couldn't find where they were located. However thanks for your guidance. I really do appreciate it and others who provide their experience and knowledge. |
