Need help camera lens cover stuck half-way open
 

I need help how to fix the camera lens cover. It stuck half-way open couldn't fully closed. Been pictures outside on the snow with my dog and somehow when I tried to open it feels sticky. I never drop it on the snow or anywhere else.. I was just checking it out and blowing out the cover (thought it's dust related). I opened and closed the cover felt sticky and I heard a click and now it wouldn't fully closed. I think a spring of sort might have come loose inside. :(

Please if anybody could show me pics or video link on how to fix this.

If you've broken the camera cover, your best bet is going to be a nokia repair centre to get a replacement back cover for the device. Shouldnt cost that much.

I had the same problem and took back to Nokia and basically it was out of the line...you basically have to take the chance and line it up again. your best bet is to have nokia fix it or be very careful and force it back in place...good luck.

Is it covered by the warranty? if not how much for the fix? how long did it take to have it fixed? I don't want the back exposed for a long time. Did you call repair or took it to one of their store?

it happen within the first week and cover by warranty...I took it to one of their store and had it back within minutes..it was just a matter of forcing back in..but i was too scare to try it myself.

Thanks. I don't want to force it either. I got it last Dec 31. I'll lookup the store in NYC. i hope they didn't shut down the store, yet. I heard they're closing all nokia stores.

omg... i tried that too.
then the black part went apart from the turquoise part and the spring came out.
only way to fix this was to take it apart, stick the spring in the right place again and then put the black part on the turquoise one.
but it didn't last long.
now i only have the turquoise part over my lense :(
it's not held in place by anything and so shifts right <-> left easily what causes the camera-app to be launched. xD
i think i'll go to a nokia care point and look which solutions they have for me. ^^

I think they close, however Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City has a Nokia booth on the first level.

Garden city LI is far from me. I live in westchester county. I was hoping I could take the Metro North down to NYC and then subway to 57th st.

Is the nokia website accurate. I got store hours from there and the address and phone number. I'll try to give a call tomorrow. if that address is 5 east 57th. i'm guessing thats by 5th ave. I think 5th ave is the division between east and west side.

I went to the Nokia store down in NYC today. I asked nokia person standing on the side if they could help me with the lens cover. We went over to the sales desk on he talked to the lady. Not sure if she's the supervisor. She looked at it and said something about the cover being shiny and the guy replied I have a zagg. The guy knows I have the clear protector brand (actually he said clear view). They sell zagg in the store. Told her I was taking pictures last week and just when closing it the cover felt sticky. She inspected it and she said there's a debri showing me a scartch when she pushed close the cover (I think it the spring or wire that came off track). Then she said I will lose the clear protector on the cover. Thought she's going to fix it. She went upstairs and then in less than a minute she came down and handed me a new back cover. :D Now I need a clear protector for the back cover.

If I live near NYC, I will go to that store a lot. They have about 4 or 5 N900 on demo. I was checking outthe E72 and Express music. Unfornutately they're closing. The lady confirmed to me the store will be closing but she never said when.
