Using a data stick for N900 just for Tablet use?
Hi Community I have a question maybe somebody on here can help me with.
You see I live in Canada, it's cold up here and we're very very far back in terms of wireless technology, so this is my dilemma. The N900 with 3G data speeds only works with one company called Windmobile, they are a new company (just launched in November 2009). Getting straight to the point to protect their system, they block a series of data ports which unfortunately renders the N900 useless for many applications for mobiile use. But they do offer a data stick which I can buy and they say you can hook it up to your laptop and all ports will be open. http://shop.windmobile.ca/ProductCat...k&color=orange So my question is there any way to hook up this data stick to the N900 and just have the N900 used as a tablet? I know its a workaround for now, but basically this is what I have to live with in Canada. Thanks again.:) |

Nope. That ain't happening. You can't just get a SIM from them, and then have them open up the ports. Its not exactly hard for them to do that?

They are being fickle about it, launching in new cities across the country, they are saying they will open up ports on an application by application basis and phone by phone basis....what an amateur company.

Alternatively, you could purchase and use a device such as the Cradlepoint PHS300. Such a solution does add expense, a second device to carry, and a second device to charge though. |
