Playing audio (WMA) in Python
Hi,
I have followed the tutorials and started building an application using Qt with Python on Maemo 5. The next step for me is trying to figure out how to play a WMA stream from the web into my application. What's the best way to achieve this? Does anyone have any tips or know of any tutorials regarding achieving the above? Is gstreamer the best way of doing this - or should I use something else? Thanks in advance |
Re: Playing audio (WMA) in Python
Hi,
you could have a look at the Media Application Framework (MAFW) [1] and its API docs. You will find as well python-bindings for it. Daniel |

(Don't mention the python bindings, they are very limited in documentation and quite incomplete :-)

Re: Playing audio (WMA) in Python
Thanks for the info, I had noticed MAFW but was a little put off by the fact I couldn't really figure out how complete it was.
I have been experimenting with a simple gstreamer instance using playbin so far, it seems to work with some audio formats like mp3 streaming and AAC+ streaming - although doesn't seem to like playlist files (asx, m3u) or WMA streaming. Will continue to investigate both though and let you all know if I discover anything related to WMA from MAFW or gst for future reference... |
