What happened to Mauku?
Few days ago i started tweeting again, good opportunity to test the available Twitter apps. I prefer Mauku over Witter because it's snappier and more reliable. Plus, i don't like Witter's GUI. But the beta4 Mauku update seems aeons ago. And Hhedberg promised a ton of improvements.
There are a couple of issues i ran into, such as the Mauku widget not working at all. Does anyone know if it has been abandoned? There is no life sign of Hhedberg either, maybe the whole Meego thing made him leave Mauku 2.0? I can only hope he is up to something such as Qtfying, because in it's current state Mauku seems only half-baked. It would be really nice to see Mauku and Witter join forces and combine the best of both worlds, to create the ultimate Twitter app. Of course one can say there is always the Twitter website, however, the problem is their Javascript, making the browser hang, all thanks to ajax.googleapis.js. Does anyone know how to block this? And how do i get the.Mauku Widget to work? It just sits here, nothing but a blank area. Of course i rebooted after installing. Any help or info about Mauku would be appreciated, it is a great app with a lot of potential, it must not die. |
Re: What happened to Mauku?
I agree, no new updates on mauku.
Its been in beta for the longest time with no new updates |
Re: What happened to Mauku?
no real option to join witter with mauku. i believe mauku is c/c++ witter is python.
assuming mauku is not being developeit will stop functioning completely when twitter turn off basic auth in july. personally i think it's good to have multiple clients filling different requirements. very hard to make an 'ultimate' which suits everyone. |
Re: What happened to Mauku?
If you haven't heard of it already, another option aside from the Twitter website is http://hahlo.com.
Of course, a dedicated app would be best, but Hahlo is far better than the Twitter website. |

Re: What happened to Mauku?
Check here for some comments by the Mauku developer
http://lists.maemo.org/pipermail/mae...ry/024161.html excerpt here "P.S. I have been very busy lately, and I have had to make decisions how to spend my time. Unfortunately, the confusion and unreadiness of Maemo (and maemo.org) software distribution channels was one reason why I have dropped the priority of Mauku project. Those essential building blocks should be in good shape in order to attract developers (both open source and commercial), but unfortunately that is not the case here now. I really hope things will be get better..." Hartti |
