Wifi General knowledge

Hi,

Few Questions
1) Is there any Wifi Headset available like bluetooth headset so there will be no restriction of distance. Also it can also be used as intercom with the N900. You can leave it home for ur wife or give it ur girl freind :-). Just wifi needed which is usually availble in our home these days.

2) Is there any way we can transfer call made through gsm network over wifi to another person. Means conferrence call invloving gsm and VoIp at the same time.

Regards
Farooq

regarding 1: I haven't heard of something like that. I'd say it's unlikely, though. Wifi is way more power-hungry than Bluetooth. Also Wifi has distance-restrictions, too.

Isn't just easier to use Skype? No need to buy an extra wifi-device.

Very few things are impossible given enough resources, but how much time and money are you willing to spend on these ? ;)

1) In theory you could build a headset that connects via TCP/IP to a "server" running on N900 or Desktop machine or whatever which hooks into the relevant media frameworks to provide sound input/output paths. Requires plenty of electronics and embedded programming skills and a lot of time (if you have neither hiring someone to do the RD is of course an option if you're "independently wealthy")

2) I don't really know much about Asterisk, but AFAIUnderstand it should be capable of routing calls like this too. I have seen a package for it in some repo (extras-testing, maybe devel...) but have not given it a try.

1) What you need is a small portable computer to allow you access the wifi network and stream the music to your headphones, arrh that will be the N900 ;)
