Merlin EX720 from Sprint w/ N810 - suggestions?
Does anyone have any suggestions for getting an expresscard Merlin Ex720 cdma 3g card from sprint working on the N810?
I have a USB to ExpressCard adapter from SIIG and the N810 in host mode. When I plug in the EX720, the nit says Device not recognized and then the ex720 seems to get stuck in some sort of reboot mode because it keeps doing this over and over gain, turning on and off (the ex720 not the nit). anyone have any experience with this might be able to help me out? thanks! |

UPDATE:
ok for those curious. I now have the Merlin ex720 working on my n810 running diablo. First you need a USB Female to microUSB and a Powered USB hub or you can just make the cable powered with a 9v battery and voltage regulator. This is what I did, rafanto has a nice write up on that here: [codehttp://rafanto.net/mini-hub-per-nokia-770-e-nokia-n880/[/code] also an expresscard to usb adapter is needed. I'm using this one: Code:
http://www.siig.com/ViewProduct.aspx?pn=JU-EP0012-S1 Code:
sudo gainroot Code:
insmod usbserial.ko Code:
echo host> /sys/devices/platform/musb_hdrc/mode from there the card is usable. if your using sprint you can follow these handy directions to get it working: Code:
http://says.samat.org/2007/01/28/sprints-evdo-mobile-broadband-on-ubuntu-linux its working fine for me in the terminal (i.e. apt-get and ping work fine) but i cant seem to get the browser or chat program to recognize that it is connected to the internet. anyone have any suggestions on this? |

another UPDATE:
to get webbrowsing and other internet applications to work a DUMMY network has to be set up. you can do this with the command: Quote:
next I need to figure out how much power this 3g card is draining while in use. seems like I might go through 9v batteries kinda fast. could be because I have poor reception where i'm at. |
