Faulty screen?
I'm not sure if my screen is faulty, or whether it is normal, but since I've had my N900, it has become more noticeable that the screen appears to be "pressed in" from the casing.
When using my finger to the edge of the screen, the casing is noticeably more raised up, on all four sides. When using easy-debian with the stylus, it becomes even more apparent, as when it comes to moving a window near the edges, I have to press much harder than normal before it recognizes I'm touching the edge. The corners feel the worst for this, and it feels like I'm pushing on a pocket of air. I didn't notice this for a while, so i think it has become progressively worse. Is this normal, or should my screen be flush with the casing? Thanks. |
Re: Faulty screen?
No the screen should not be flush, there has to be something to hold the touchscreen into the frame after all.
The fact is YOU ARE pressing onto a cushion of air, that is so that it doesn't actually press into the LCD itself which can cause defective pixels if you push too hard. At least this way all you would break is the touchscreen, but you would have to really be abusing it to do so. |
Re: Faulty screen?
Thanks for that. Howcome it seems to have got progressively more noticable? Especially on the edges I have to press harder than anywhere else on the screen.
Im guessing the air thing is to do with resistive scrrens? It is the first one I have used, so I wouldn't really know. |
