n900 sat navigation issues
 

hello, yes, i'm new, i have searched for the answers I need and got nowhere really.

Basically what I would like to know is why the ovi maps is not guiding me like my n97 mini did ?

Also what can I download to have guided navigation, if anything?

You have not searched well then as there are clear discussions on this. There is no supported voice guided navigation as yet for the n900 but there are those working on this. And one company is stating theirs will soon be available soon..... we wait....

I have just searched and people are asking questions slightly relevant to mine. Ive just got mine the other day and have just registered yet I see everyone flaming eachother for not searching enough.

Anywho...I can get written directions...however you say no voice guided...does that mean I can still get turn by turn ??

With Ovi maps 1.0 (included in N900 as standard) you can get a route from your GPS position to **address** and either
1) view the written directions
2) view an overhead map with a purple line marking the route on a map from where you are to your destination - the little red dot will track your GPS position so you can see which route to take.

No proper sat nav features though such as voice guided navigation, rerouting when you take a wrong turning etc etc

aye cheers franka. thats what i had to do last night. kinda frustrating this phone. cant imagine what its been like for the people who have had it since day 1 !!!!
