Writing in French...
Hey!
I have searched the forums and the net but found no answer yet. Does anyone know how to write French letters using the PHYSICAL keyboard? Also, do the ukeyboard layouts for English have any of the French letters? By this I mean "é" "à" and so forth... Thanks for reading :) |
Re: Writing in French...
Simple steps while using the hardware keyboard
1. Press the blue symbol arrow key. 2. Then press the Sym/Ctrl Key. 3. This brings up the symbols on the screen. 4. Choose the one(single click) you want to use. (it gets highlighted in blue) 5. Press the relevant alphabet on the hardware keyboard. Eg. click (ˆ) on the screen and then press (a) on the keyboard and you'll get "â" |
Re: Writing in French...
I remapped my german keyboard ( editing /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/nokia_vndr/rx-51 http://wiki.maemo.org/Remapping_keyboard ) and then used Keyboard Mod to put the missing signs (*+#$=) on the virtual keyboard.
So now I've instead of this signs àéèçù^ on the physical keyboard! I could post my /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/nokia_vndr/rx-51 file if you're interested... |
Re: Writing in French...
Thank you both! You rock!
Someone did suggest remapping, but I figured there had to be a straight away of doing this! Especially if you do not use French a lot. The tips above worked perfectly fine :) Thank you un_named and bimbim. I owe you both one :) |
