Program for Auto REBOOT N900?
 
Hi all,
I would like to schedule a reboot process using a "reboot" command at 5:00 am. I realize that there is no crontab on N900, even though there is a /etc/cron.daily directory.
I read somewhere that i can use fcron. 1.) Should i use it? And how do i set it up and run it as a crontab? 2) Will it eat up my battery's life? 3) What is my alternative if fcron is not a solution?

You can use fcron or Alarmed to do this. Neither should impact battery life (Alarmed ties into the existing alarm scheduling functionality, not sure how fcron's working).

Now I have Fcron installed, I would use that over alarmd. Very easy, all details in the Wiki page mentioned above.

Guys, recently after installing power kernel (46), device is not rebooting if i execute "sudo reboot".

The rebooting process starts, but stops after the device shuts down.
i.e., after the device shuts down, the device isnt booting up.

Why would this happen after installing power kernel?

Now I have to manually switch on the device every time after the device shuts down!!

Many apps are causing reboots because they are conflicting with the os to the point it grunts and needs to shut down and or reboot.

First thing that has to happen on this forum is bring in a profficient team to scrutinise ALL apps for problems even after they have been allowed to be used and downloaded, far far too many problems are now occuring due to badly written or conflicting apps that will not allow the system to run efficiently or at all.

Some apps written for the N900 are like a virus and i am not suprised because they are written to an os that is not fully open, so is it possible to open the N900 Nokia software legally? or does Nokia still insist on holding everyone to ransom here?.

As for making an app to reboot at some specific time, omg comes to mind lol.
