Be notified when she shows up online

I really spend to much time enabling my screen to see if there's a green bullet below her picture now...

Is there a way to have a sound notification when the status of a specific contact changes to online?

Cheers,
reto

You know, that is a pretty good suggestion. I don't think it is already built in, though.

I don't know about Conversations, but I use Pidgin for MSN and other IM protocols on my N900. And Pidgin has "buddy pounce".

My good old N800 is actually much nicer than the N900 in this respect, with its home screen applet showing my preferred shortlist of contacts.

Sorry, I haven't tried customizing them... I just knew they are there.

I'd suppose Telepathy announces status changes on the DBUS so using dbus-scripts and a small script this should be rather easy (one can send notification messages via dbus as well).

Alternatively yet-another-dbus-listening daemon could be made (pros: no need to install dbus-scripts just for this, no need to spawn shell for your action script. cons: yet another background process running).

I sometimes obsessed over the status of people too...
