Sygic crashes after overclock !

Overclocked my N900 to 800mhz, and all was good - or so I thought.
Noticed that Picodrive and Angry Birds was stuttering slightly.
Then ran Sygic Mobile Maps up and it now crashes everytime I get a lock (i.e. map changes to navigate colours).

Was on latest UK Black firmware, and flashed back to 'stock' 600mhz speed - still same three problems.

Decided to do a fresh install so followed instructions but flashed the latest 'Global' firmware - still have same three problems.

After searching the forum/s, seem to be on my own with this problem - so wondered if flashing the eMMC would help before a fresh install of firmware.
Problem is I see When flashing the eMMC content, always flash the FIASCO/Rootfs image first, then the eMMC. Do not boot up the device between the two!, but no other download or process to follow to do this - am I missing something really obvious ?

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated, or any other thoughts / suggestions as to why I now get the above three problems ?

I think that the problem is the Sygic files. Reinstall them should fix it.

Mine doesn´t crash so this is not universal. I´ve got the 900 overclock running.

I'm not knocking the overclock or the Sygic software, obviously I've got a bit of a unique problem, and just asking if anyone can help ;)

Re: Sygic crashes after overclock !

I tried Sygic on my N900 (long before the oc btw) and it just gives me Segmentation fault. Try reinstalling Sygic before reflashing the eMMC.
First reflash the eMMC (VANILLA image) then the firmware, I'll edit the wiki.
Code:

flasher -F vanillaimage.bin -f
#Wait till it finishes, then...
flasher -F FIASCOimage.bin -f -R

When it comes to overclocking, every device is an individual. File system corruption could very well be one of the signs of too high clock frequency.

Thats the odd thing, I flashed the global firmware, and then reinstalled Sygic, but still get the same problem.

I think I need to flash the emmc (but thats where I'm coming unstuck), then flash firmware, then reinstall apps

Oh and before anyone asks, yes it is a genuine install of Sygic - bought and paid for :)

Thanks Mohammad (I seem to be saying that a lot recently ;)), do you agree that the best course of action is:-

Flash eMMC / flash firmware / reinstall apps ?

And I'll check out the wiki later - did I thank you yet

Re: Sygic crashes after overclock !

Just checked the wiki, someone changed and messed it up!
When the instructions were first added it was eMMC, then FIASCO, someone changed it to FIASCO then eMMC and kept the last line a (Having flashed the eMMC you should flash the FIASCO image) or something similar.
Contradictions removed, commands fixed (it had a -R which restarts the tablet after the reflash, this shouldn't be done), and the u key thing was made clearer (I hope)
imo, it doesn't matter which you reflash first, but don't boot up in between, I always reflash the eMMC then the FIASCO though.
Try reinstalling sygic then go for the reflash.
I'd purge sygic (to get rid of the settings) and reinstall it, since a normal reinstall keeps settings.
Code:

dpkg --purge mobile-maps

Re: Sygic crashes after overclock !

Okay, thanks to Mohammad and Meamo.org, I think I'm finally beginning to learn a bit about maemo / linux -Famous Last Words :rolleyes:

Anyway, could'nt purge Sygic, but after a process of elimination purged it with
Code:

dpkg --purge Mobile-Maps-9
Re-installed Sygic but still shuts down, so learning but not there yet :(

I think the statement that has been stumping me was this
When flashing the eMMC content, always flash the eMMC image first, then the FIASCO image. Do NOT boot up the device between the two!
So I've been looking for two files to install, and then the firmware.
Now I'm thinking that the FIASCO image is actually the firmware ?
If I'm right I think I need to hook up the phone in usb mode and then in x term use the following:-
Code:

flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.41-1.VANILLA_PR_EMMC_MR0_ARM.bin -f
Then after complete, and phone still in usb mode due to not ending the command with -R and again in x term use:-
Code:

flasher-3.5.exe -F RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R
If I'm right the phone should now reboot with:-
(1) Global firmware installed
(2) eMMC completely wiped
(3) Only data remaining on the phone will be on my Micro SDHC card

So in essence a completely reformatted phone in essence the same as a hard factory reset (*#7370#) on Symbian phones.

Phew !, If i'm right can someone confirm (and I'll run thru it), equally if i'm wrong can someone correct me (and if thats the case, I'll come back to it tomorrow :().

As always - any help/comments greatly appreciated :p
