N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
The overclock thread/poll is too big and not objective.
Please post here tests, results and new kernels/versions and news. Please be brief/succinct and DO NOT ASK TOO MUCH OR GO OFF-TOPIC. Also, please try to post realistic uses too (using normal phone, some browsing and so on... not only something like playin' ps games for 3h or benchmark-like stuff, its obvious it'll be faster...) and battery life comparisons. Thanks. |
Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
I've had 900Mhz/stock kernel now for ~4 days. Every thing runs smooth, battery life better than i expected, seems to be very stable. I use my n900 for playing, surfing, email, etc. no sudden reboots or crashes. Overall im glad i oc'd it!

Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
I flashed mine with 800mhz and everything was fine. I decided to go back to stock until PR1.2 is released in case anything unpleasant happens.

Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
im using 930 mhz for 3 days now and got no major problems except that my battery drains faster because i frequently browse. also I notice that my phone is much warmer than before when using the cpu for 100% however when idle phone stays much longer than before.
overall the performance is great i even compare this phone with my friend who has got a stock cpu speed and this phone is way much faster than his. his phone suddenly feels obsolete lol |
Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
I overclocked my n900 to 800 and 900 MHz. I noticed a slight increase in speed, but nothing amazing - flash videos don't appear to be any faster. BBC IPlayer is still unusable.
I guess I am patient with web browsing, and the stock speed "slowness" I guess I have become used to and happy with. Possibly down to usage case. |
Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
I flashed mine from UK > Global firmware. Then applied the 12/900 firmware overclock and there is a noticebale difference in speed.
For those that say no difference, reflash your device. |

Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
Been running 1Ghz for a few days now via Lehto's kernel.
(Was initially using 125-1000/480. Now I'm running 125-1000/500dsp) Have done all the usual stuff I do on my phone since: - Watch at least few hours of xvid avi (up to 45mins in single session) - Watch youtube videos over wifi via MicroB. (about an hour straight) - Browse the web over many hours over Wifi and 3G. - Making and receiving calls. Talking up to 20mins at a time. - Angry Birds for up to an hour at a time. - DrNokSnes for about 15minutes at a time. Not noticing any abnormalities yet. Battery life is normal also. I did overclock it up to 1.2Ghz via Titan's kernel. It locked up straight away and had to reboot. lol I was able to get it running seemingly without issues at 1.1Ghz. But only tested it for an hour or so before going back to 1Ghz. (safer. lol) |
Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
First OC'ed to 800Mhrz by flashing with a new kernel.
Everything worked perfectly. Then switched to Titans enhanced kernel, and raised it to 850Mhrz. Everything still fine. |
Re: N900 overclock tests/results and new versions
I was running my N900 with 125/900 for 3 days and I had no issues.
Battery life was also great. Now I'm testing Titan's kernel with 900 Mhz and the battery lifetime is a good piece less. But the device did not get warm or freezed at all. |
