N900: Updating RSS feeds over a 3G-connection
Hi folks,
I'm subscribing to a few rss-feeds with my N900. Updating the feeds while wlan-connected works like a charm. Unfortunately updating the feeds wile 3g-connected doesn't. I did check the "All connections"-box under Preferences. I also installed FeedingIt, with the same rss-feeds. The problem didn't go away. The rss-feeds still won't update while 3g-connected. It's a mystery to me. Has anybody else had the same problem? Cheers, Mike |

Short reaction; no. Vodafone in NL works fine in the standard RSS app. Slightly slower than Wifi.

Mighty odd. I guess the problem lies at the service provider, then

No problem for me with ATT in the US other than the standard lament that the N900 doesn't use AT&T's 3G frequency...

Re: N900: Updating RSS feeds over a 3G-connection
Yup, i have the same problem. Issue occurs with standard rss and FeedingIt.
See page 25 of FeedingIt post in this forum. I think the problem is the following: KPN uses a proxy for the 3g connection. |
Re: N900: Updating RSS feeds over a 3G-connection
@cisqo, zupidupi, can you download this to your n900:
http://feedingit.marcoz.org/test2.py connect to 3g start a X-terminal, and run: python2.5 MyDocs/test2.py (assuming you saved it into the MyDocs folder), and then send me the output (Private message or email is fine). Also, are you able to open the RSS URL in the browser? |

I'm able to open the feed in the browser btw. These are the results of the connection checks. I did one check with wifi and one with mobile internet. It seems when I use mobile internet there's a proxy involved. Is there somithing changed in the last change or the change before that one? Cause before the last or the second last change there were no problems regarding the connection... If there is a solution for this or an bypass it would be nice. If I need test some more, please let it know. Test.py while on wifi: /MyDocs $ python test2.py Proxy?: False Port: 0 Host: Data: 7432 Test.py while on mobile internet: ~/MyDocs $ python test2.py Proxy?: True Port: 554 Host: 10.10.100.11 Data: 7510 |
Re: N900: Updating RSS feeds over a 3G-connection
I had the same problem, and I suspect fMMS did something fishy in the background. I had the proxies defined on my GPRS access point, although the 'use proxy' was not on. I cleared all the proxy settings, and the RSS feeds started to work again over GPRS.
