Mobile tv n900
Hi is it ever going to happen??? what i mean is are we ever going to get an app like the iphone for sky sports im quite disapointed that tv seems to be the area that the n900 fails.
Yes i know we can get bbc i player (poorly) but an app for sky sports would be really handy and i know im not the only 1 that wants it. The main problem here is that its not down to you app creaters out there to do it as it would need to be a subscription service through sky or vodafone . Anyone any ideas on this?? ive been binding my time for a while but as you all know not much been happening with the n900 Thanks |
Re: Mobile tv n900
Yes that would indeed be lovely, perhaps like myself you have your old n95 faithfully on standby for the football matches tomorrow (Come on you reds!). I already mentioned this on the Vodafone forum, unfortunately they have are no plans to make Vodafone live! or mobile TV available to the n900. Sky are not interested as there isn't the customer base to make one for it.
I believe a brave soul did attempt to find a workaround for the mobile TV issue on here, but was having wap problems (micro b doesnt handle the file that is returned by the vodafone servers if i remember correctly), if you search for "Mobile TV" you'll find more about it. |
Re: Mobile tv n900
Yeah i have searched and read the voda forums and the likes thing is skysports advertise mobile tv through the iphone and for all it would take them to create an app for nokia/n900 users.
I am quite frustrated by this as its one of the reasons i got the phone back in december, the main problem here is that its basically a create your own app phone but for subscription services we are screwed |
Re: Mobile tv n900
Ummm guys, I've never used an Iphone but can't you just go to a website and launch a tv player? Or go to a P2P site and let them stream all the football you want? Just a suggestion that's all, not trying to sound like a smart *** in anyway. :)

Re: Mobile tv n900
the other problem is that sky use silverlight as there media plug in on there site so we cant even watch it through there site
which is more expensive but it would be a step in the right direction if we could get the n900 to accept silverlight plugins and watch straight from there sight like the bbc iplayer |

I use it all the time, myp2p.eu...but you have to find the right link. Justin TV works well

Re: Mobile tv n900
I looked into this before and, if I remember the figures right, to view from Sky's site with subscription is around £30/month whereas via Iphone app or Vodafone mobile TV it's about £6/month. So aswell as a technical issue with Silverlight that would stop us streaming it on the n900, it's also quite a bit more expensive.
Relying on JustinTV is a world of frustration usually. I think I did notice something about Sopcast appear in a thread recently, though data usage would sky rocket I'd imagine. |
Re: Mobile tv n900

Waiting for Adobe 10.1 so I can use it for megavideo, but I've seen a video where they've overclocked the N900 and megavideo was playing well, only thing is that I'm too much of a novice to go and start fiddling with the device, I like it the way it is. :) |
