Running hildon-input-plugin-example on freemantle?
 

I want to write a new input plugin for hildon but I cannot get the example plugin to work on my n900. I tried using the Diablo deb[1] or building from source[2] but once enabled with gconf, nothing happens when I activate a textbox.

How can I get the example to work? Are there any working open source input plugins I can use as a starting point? I tried the hebrew and scim HIM plugins from the garage with no more success. Does hildon keep an error log somewhere?

Do any apps keep logs? /var/log is surprisingly empty.

SOLVED!

The example plugins need a specific filename to work.

the plugin file for hildon-im-example-fkb in /usr/lib/hildon-input-method/ needs to be called him_vkb_example.so
