Media format not supported -still?
As I recall (it's been a while) after the last firmware I started getting "Media format not supported" for all the video files I had been using on my old E90. I've just been waiting for a firmware/software fix, but as I've not been hearing a lot of comment on the boards I've started to think it's only me.
Is this a "system-wide" problem? Has everyone else "moved on" to other video players? What's up? |
Re: Media format not supported -still?
i installed something called Media Player Extra Codecs from the repositories since day one, and i'ven't had any issues with videos yet... =)

Re: Media format not supported -still?
Try restaring the phone..sometimes that happens to me. But usually hours after using the phone. And when I try a .wmv sometimes it gives me that error and gives me the same error for all filetypes. A restart cures it.

Re: Media format not supported -still?
If the problem only occurs after trying to open a file it doesn't like you can fix it by running the following in xterm:
Code:
mafw.sh stop mafw-gst-renderer Obviously this will not help you if even after a reboot it doesn't play files, that's a different issue entirely. This merely restarts the media renderer to the same state as a reboot would. |
Re: Media format not supported -still?
No Joy. Rebooting doesn't help. So does this mean everyone else can view, e.g. the 1080 Star Trek Preview Nokia provided last year??
I tri with and without the Extra Decoders Support" app. |

Re: Media format not supported -still?
The file I referred to I D/Led from Ovi. The filename is "Exclusive_KIRK_1080p.mov_2.3gp" but I don't know if it's still on Ovi.
The others are on my uSD card, from my E90. I wouldn't provide a link to them even if I knew how. I had thought that the issue was that video sizes greater than 800x480 was "Broken" with the last update, but this thread is indicating otherwise.... |
Re: Media format not supported -still?
I downloaded The Iron Man 2 trailer from Ovi. It played well on my device..have you tried reflashing? Or removing and reinstalling the media player?
To remove media player: In xterm Code:
sudo gainroot Code:
sudo gainroot |
Re: Media format not supported -still?
My Bad. I tried to play them on my PC and still had problems. Something messed up earlier this year (a bad copy??). I have most replaced with working backups - I had to go pretty far back.
I'd like to thank everyone for finally convincing me that I was the only one with the problem, even if it was of the OTOSOTK variety. |
