Need generic advice re sim card services
 

I didn't even know there were 'sim card services' till I got here. I knew you could store contacts on your sim but that was about it. I learned the sim card is capable of holding more than that when people started complaining that n900 doesn't.

Then yesterday, someone said something to me about having handed over their sim card with video stored on it... I didn't react until now - it'sabout 4am - when it suddenly hit me: CAN you store video footage on a sim card?

So in a fit of insomnia, I thought I ask the all-knowing maemo.org. Someone here must know!

i thionk that the sim card has only 64 kb of memory for use, but its enough for showing a menu with a lot of multimedia option and carrier options, the sim card only store the menu, all services that is included in the sim card are sended OTA like a SMS to the device, and only send links or simple images, so that u heard was about a link toa video showed in a menu of sim card, and not stored in sim card, i hope u get cleared with my ans

Thanks, yes I think so. The video was of illegal activity - the police would not have needed to take the card, would they? Just the details of the link?

my sim card has 128kb.. but it also has a lot of menu items (which i cant access on my n900).. i guess theoretically it *can* hold super small videos, but how to do it is an entirely different question..

I think that the only needs the details of the link, becuase as i said you, most times links are sended like SMS and store into device, and not in the sim card, sim card menus only are a "user interface" for services from carriers and doesnt store anything else, apart from contacts, thats why is so small the memory in it.
