Spread to Go on n900 is a crock

Hi everyone, first post.
As the title says, I'm not impressed with spread to go on n900.
There are NO graphs, it insists on formatting dates US style, is read only and is limited to 10 worksheets in a workbook.
Now, I'm a strictly windows user, reasonably competant and the question I have for you good folk is should I go down this road.....

....to try and get access to open office on n900?

I really need acces to updatable on the go spreadsheets.
However, no Linux background scares me on this,
but I can follow instructions :)

While I'm here, anyone know how to create a waypoint/favourite on the Maps/Ovi application.
Damned if I can find it.
I know there are issues with it syncing with online Ovimaps.

Installing Easy Debian is really straightforward if you follow the installation instructions in the wiki you linked in your post. So don't be afraid if it seems N900 is not responding at all during the installation. Everything returns to normal after the installation is finished!

About adding waypoints in Ovi Maps: I guess you can do it only by adding points in the Route? I haven't used it that much but N900's Maps is quite simple. And it appears that the waypoints are not saved from one session to another, which is a shame.

I tried once with Easy Debian and couldn't make it work.

Although is not the best I've seen, Gnumeric is pretty usable and works perfect for me.

I also have Koffice, but I don't like too much how it works on N900.

Yes you can do it that ways. All you need to do then is just intall Easy Debian from the application manger and then run it from the Main Menu.

But before that, put the downloaded file into the MyDocs folder of the N900, or in simple terms connect the phone via mass storage mode and just copy the file there before you run Easy Debian for the first time

BTW if the file you downloaded is *.lzma then you have to extract(unzip) it on the computer and then copy the resulting *.ex2 file to the N900. For this you can download 7-zip from the internet.

Somehow, with Divine intervention and your instructions,
I got this to work and I know zilch about Linux.
Open Office Calc works but is sloooooooow!
Does that large file have to stay put permanently,
or is it just used for installation purposes?

Will experiment further and report back.

The ~2GB file has to stay on the N900. It contains the Debian OS & the applications in it..

Have you tried abiword or doesnt that meet your requirements? i find it pretty good with documents, although i havent tried it with graphs, etc.

I have gnumeric (Debian) working, has to be invoked from terminal,
but no graphs produced from MS Excel documents.
There's a Maemo version of this is it quicker?
Does this run using the native OS?
