Should I buy N900 to test Qt app

I just started to develop a Qt apps and it runs on my Nokia 5530 running S60 v5.
I wish to test it on Maemo but I heard that Maemo 6 is the first platform for Qt and it is expected to be available in the second quarter.
I know little about N900 and not sure whether it can run Qt apps. Or should I wait for Maemo 6 launch?

It does run QT apps, but that's not why you should buy it. You should buy it because it is supercool. It will make you supercool.

Seriously, though, there seem to be a few symbian specific calls you need to IF out--at least in the demo qt apps there are--so it is worth testing. But if your app is awesome it is likely that some enterprising N900 owner will be willing to test it or even take ownership of it in the maemo repository.

What's the app? Do tell.

maemo 5 does run qt apps. But i would suggest running app in scratchbox. That way you get nearly fully functional n900/maemo 5

You dont really need to buy the device. Its really depends on what platform is your target application.

At nokia website, you can always download the emulators for that platform.

Then you can test your application against the emulator.

Well for maemo is different, its not an emulator since its a scratchbox, but I think you got the idea, you dont need the actual device to test your code.

Depending on the application you're developing, it might even be possible to get a test device from Nokia for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for all replied!
I am in Hong Kong and developing an app to read and playback a custom file format which created by a multimedia editing program in Windows.
Today after lunch I am notified that N900 will be available in Hong Kong and I pre ordered one unit in a local shop. Just can't wait and want to play with a real device!
