N900 as an external keyboard / mouse

Hi There,

I have a computer connected to my lounge TV and I wonder if I could use my n900 as an external keyboard/mouse (via wireless or bluetooth).

Is it possible?

Any thoughts are more than welcome!
thank you,

z.

Yes. There's an app called Bluemaemo that makes your N900 work as a standard HID keyboard/mouse.

Hi Benson,

Thank you for your prompt answer!
Can you give me the directions on how to download/install that application?

Thank you mate.

You can find BlueMaemo in the extras-devel repository. The community as a whole usually doesn't recommend that you install stuff from there though, as stuff in there is incomplete and is intended for people who know exactly what they're doing.

I thought it was in extras now... sorry about that. Some info on extras-devel here, if you decide to go ahead with it, be sure to disable the extras-devel catalog once you install bluemaemo, so you don't accidentally install other experimental software.

Hi There,

Thank you for your feedback.

I enabled the extras-devel repository just to install / test this application.

But unfortunately, I couldn't find the app.

:(

Unfortunately, it's still in extras-devel, and somewhat unfinished, but it did function pretty well as a mouse and keyboard last time I tried it (about 2 months ago.)

The name is bluemaemo right?

Yes, the name shows up as "BlueMaemo". Make sure your catalog definition matches what's shown here exactly.

I just uninstalled it and reinstalled to verify, definitely there.

I just enabled extras-devel and looked for it, and I see it in there. Are you sure that you've got it set up right?
