Tips to improve home wifi connection?

I have noticed that my home wifi connection on my N900 is worse than other connections. It will often not load even begin to load a page, just scrolling the little blue bar back and forth forever. Reloading the page will usually make it connect instantly. Large downloads will also often freeze and have to be resumed. It also makes emails sometimes fail to load.

I do not have these issues on my N900 when connected to other wifi sources, nor do any other clients on my wifi network have this problem. My guess is that some setting in my router doesn't work well with the N900. I am using WPA encryption, but again, I don't have this problem with other WPA secured connections. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

After a bit a of tinkering, I may have fixed the problem. My wifi was sharing a channel with several other connections. By switching channels (from 1 to 11 in my case), the situation seems greatly improved. Hopefully, the problem is permanently solved.

Also turn off power saving for your connection in n900 connection settings

...and for one serendipitous and highly non-scientific recommendation, get that cheap Asus EeeAP access point, screw in a normal sized antenna (not the vestigial one that comes with it) and you will be rewarded by ridiculously fast and reliable wireless connection.

I am not sure why that is, but whatever hardware and the packet settings the EeeAP is using work really well with the N900. I cannot log into the EeeAP since its address is not allocated in the same subnet and I cannot be bothered to get into it yet to check what settings it is using.

Not even my "proper" D-Link wireless router with a 10 dB gain upgraded antenna offers better performance.

My laptop on the other hand running Ubuntu 9.10 sees no performance difference between the two...and it is less snappy than the N900 on the EeeAP.
