N900 will not charge

Today I had the phone connected to my work computer. When I disconnected it to go to lunch it soon after alerted me to a low battery. Confused I thought that perhaps my work place tweaked the USB ports to not provide power (yes, they would do that where I work). I plugged it into the PC again and the phone gave a message with something like: power too low, not charging. I tried to charge it via USB/cigarette lighter connection in my car. Nothing. When I got home I tried the actual wall charger. It doesn't charge the phone either.
What's going on here?
I got the phone in December. Will this be covered under warranty?
I am so not happy. I never really had any problems like this before now. It was very sudden.

If the battery gone too low and flat beyond resusitate by the N900 then try use Nokia 5800 to charge it up for you. It is very common that when the battery is too flat you can't charge it back up. The only way is to use desktop charger. Otherwise it could be the usb problem on your device.

Try the first method first. Then if later it charged up enough to boot up, try replug the charger in again. If it still say won't charge then must be OS problem. If flashed the OS and still got the problem then USB problem.

But if you can flash it then it is not USB

2 year warranty i think.... as long as its manufacturers problem its covered!

my usb has become loose and only charges if i wiggle it into the right place. obviously making the problem worse but i need to charge it. will get round to taking it to a care point sooner or later

Do not jiggle it.

Do not pull it.

Take pictures to show the external part of the micro usb is not damaged in any way.

Contact nokia support.

After you've checked the mains charger is switched on at the wall....
It could still be a failed mains charger then, the pc behaviour isn't conclusive.

I had a similar problem, and i fixed it by reflashing the firmware.. i didnt get any message about the power being too low, what had happened to me was that i was heavily using it as my battery died, and after it wouldnt turn on what so ever, so i left it plugged in for a few hours and tried again, then the nokia logo came on and it froze there.. at that point i reflashed the firmware and it was fixed

Thanks for the info.
I will leave it plugged in and see what happens. I had it plugged in for 30 minutes and it would still do nothing. I can drop it off at UPS for service until tomorrow, so will give it a whirl.

Left it plugged in overnight. Nothing. No lights come on, no sounds. It is cold and dead.

See this thread lance, you're in the same boat as everyone else unfortunately, send it in to Nokia Care and hope for the best, otherwise you'll have to go through the same battle I'm still going through...
