Newbie Help Requested
 

Have an n800 used primarily as controller for my Slimdevices Squeezebox. Works nicely as such - using the Nokia770 skin.

However, want to do and learn more. Without boring this group of advanced readers, can anyone point me to a newbie forum or place to post questions. I have basic things like, when I put music on the tablet, I stuck it in a folder I named "Music". How do I get canola to "see" that folder? I went to canola config and it sure was not intuitive for this Windows user.

I could ask a million more like this, but want to get to the right audience and set of patient users.

If you created the folder 'music' under Documents, the path to that location would actually be:

//home/user/MyDocs/.documents/music
The dot in front of documents indicates that the directory is hidden. I presume that nokia did it that way to make it more difficult to find the directory and delete stuff (I guess). Hope that helps. Please note, however that I have a 770 (not an 800), and I don't use canola, so I'm kind of shooting in the dark here. . .

As for a newbie forum, I don't know of any specific to the Nokia, but any knowlege that you can gain about linux generally will certainly help you. Good luck! K.

The short answer is no. I've looked and asked but there is no newbie n800 home online. However there is some great info out there, like Schmots blog. There aren't loads of tutorials right now, but its very well written. http://schmots.blogspot.com/

Otherwise, there is lots of good info on here, but it's slightly painful to find and occasionally quite difficult to figure out.

Good luck, and be sure to post if you do find anything particularly good out there.
