Problem installing Maemo 5 SDK
Hello,
I'm following installation steps found on this page: http://wiki.maemo.org/Documentation/...K_Installation under: Installing Maemo 5 SDK on x86-32 Debian based distribution When i reached this step: $ sudo chmod +x ./maemo-sdk-install_5.0.sh $ ./maemo-sdk-install_5.0.sh I get the following error: Checking for prerequisites -------------------------- wget tool in path... /usr/bin/wget Checking for dpkg tool in path... /usr/bin/dpkg Running outside of scratchbox... yes Script not run as user root... yes Scratchbox installation found... yes Scratchbox home directory... no E: Scratchbox directory for user not present. E: Add user with '/scratchbox/sbin/sbox_adduser th3hate'. E: Specify an alternative installation path using '-s PATH' option. Any idea how to solve it? |
Re: Problem installing Maemo 5 SDK
The step before that sets up the sbox user group and adds you to it. However you either need to log out and back in OR 'newgrp sbox' for the change to be available to your user.

Re: Problem installing Maemo 5 SDK
You don't need to be root to newgrp.
Maybe try log out and log back in and pick up the installation where you left off? |
Re: Problem installing Maemo 5 SDK
Have you thought bout trying to use the new nokia qt sdk with qt creator or are you trying to stay clear of qt ?

Re: Problem installing Maemo 5 SDK
'/scratchbox/sbin/sbox_adduser YOUR_USERNAME'
as per the original log should work where YOUR_USERNAME is you. assumes the group exists already and will create the /home directory in scratchbox for you. |
Re: Problem installing Maemo 5 SDK
Hang in there, it'll happen. Maybe go back a few steps and double check you are following the instructions to the letter. I've done the install several times and always get there in the end.
try going back to the scratchbox set up and taking it from there. 'sudo ./maemo-scratchbox-install_5.0.sh -u USER' again replace USER with your username (th3hate) |
Re: Problem installing Maemo 5 SDK
have you changed directory (or deleted the installer) since you first ran it.
'ls' in the current directory will show if it's there or not (as I'm sure you know). if not move to the directory where you downloaded it and try again. |
Re: Problem installing Maemo 5 SDK
Chrome don't bother doing it, the error you got to yesterday is happening to everyone :)
