Holy hell all my media is gone!
 

About 15 gigs of music and pictures just disappeared off of my n900! This is totally insane..
I am at a loss here.. did this ever happen to anyone? Can anyone tell me why this happened and if there is a way to recover everything?

It never occured to me.

Download recuva on the PC, install, run and allow it to deep scan your N900 to recover all files recoverable.

Is it actually gone (not showing in file manager/terminal/usb mode) or just not showing in media player?

Yea, happened to me a while ago too too. Completely wiped off the device :/

In terminal ^, no need to be root, then just restart the media player/photos app

Any chance the file system is just not mounted (like when you're using it as a disk drive via USB?)

Did you reboot/reset?

Have you installed any new apps recently? Which ones?

Nope.. still nothing.. thanks though.

I haven't plugged the device to my pc yet but I will as soon as I get home. Don't remember installing anything new..

You may want to check with testdisk. It could copy files, if the filesystem does not recognise them any more, but they are still there.

So yeah, everything seems to be gone entirely.. Even when I plug it in to my PC.. This is weird.. Well, it's more effing annoying than anything really..

What operating system you have? Try Recuva if you have windows.
