Wifi Connection
I been using N900 with extras test and devel for a while now, I have not problems, but a few days ago I noticed a WIFI connection called 666 in my n900, did anyone knows what I probably install to have this weird connection. Thanks.

Re: Wifi Connection
Haha.
Are you at home? Someone probably set up an Internet connection around you and named it that (and didn't make a WEP). I suggest you don't use it if isn't your connection. That would require a malicious developer to do that intentionally. |
Re: Wifi Connection
The dot above the connection icon says that it's an AdHoc mode connection initiated by a computer, not by a WiFi router. Somebody around you could have set up a temporary unencrypted AdHoc connection for exchanging files.

Re: Wifi Connection
FYI: Adhoc connections like this one (with a dot over it) always show up in the list once they've been connected to once. Even if the original transmitter isn't there, it's still in the list. I'm guessing that's because of a lot of devices that use this use it for one-time PnP setup, and stop transmitting once setup. Though if you are in range and explicity try to re-connect to change settings, most will link back up and change.
A good example, I have a Rovio at home that uses this method to do initial setup. Once setup was done, the adhoc network went away on my laptop, but the N900 remembered it. If I reconnect with the N900 though, it does wake up and let me reconfigure it. :) |
