An interesting quote in the last part of the Anandtech story:

"Intel's Sean Maloney, heir apparent to the CEO throne, said that to succeed Intel needs 3 out of the top 5 handset guys and a bunch of alternative players. He added, "we feel like we're in good shape for that." In the next 12 - 18 months we should see that come to fruition."

More choices would be great but I'll wait till I have a product in hand. Remember, ARM aren't gonna sit on their asses for the next 12-18 months. Hopefully this will light a fire under their asses to get them working in overdrive. We didn't really see much progress on the desktops until AMD came along, so I'm looking forward to the next couple of years.

Did anyone else think that the review from Ars Technica was a little unfair? For now Moorestown seems to hit a sweet spot between current low-power Atoms and the best ARMs -- this is IMO exactly what the "dream tablet" of 2010 needs...

The biggest potential accomplishment of Moorestown is IMHO that it will buy time for Intel in the no-man’s land between netbooks and phones. I don’t see it attacking ARM’s smartphone dominance (no matter how Intel pitches it), but it can stop ARM creeping upwards and biting into the bottom of netbook space. With this, they will have time for Medfield, which will probably be the ’real’ assault for the mobile device mass-market.
