[request] app to send keyboard shortcuts to pc

Hey, the title says it all. I don't know if someone can program this, but i think it would become a hot app if someone did this.

What it would do is display a number of buttons, each assigned with a key combination that the user defines. When pressed, the N900 would send that command to the connected pc/laptop (via wifi or bluetooth).

Furthermore, it would be great if you can create multiple profiles, each with it's own set of buttons. For example you can have a profile for your media player of choice to include playback commands, or another profile for photoshop to switch between tools and such (this is how i got the idea actually, want to use my tablet pc in tablet mode while drawing, but i'd have to sacrifice using the keyboard shortcuts), or finally a profile for powerpoint presentations.

I think the selling point for the program is the fact that you can assign your own key combination, and not be limited by what the programmer has predefined, even if multiple profiles don't exist.

So, is this possible? and if it is, anyone willing to take up the task? I'd obviously be more than happy to test out all the builds.

I reckon you could do this with lirc.

Have an lirc instance running on the PC, and the lirc app running on the n900.

Use the network connection method (instead of infrared).

QTIrreco ius available on N900 out of the box.

Installing lirc should be simple.

IMO it's complicated. I'd use VNC. Doesn't do exactly what you want but one can send keys and bind them on the PC.
