Facebook Chat Contacts Duplicate (due to change of contacts id prefix)
 

Hi,

Today I got all duplicate of Facebook Chat contacts (using Jabber plugin). I notice the contacts facebook chat id has different prefix now, previously the prefix was "u" and today it is "-".
This cause the duplicate and I have to merge ALL the contacts all over again. This also cause duplicates in Conversations.

I tried adding the contacts using their facebook username@chat.facebook.com, but it's not working.

Anybody have any idea or solution? I've reported this to Facebook Chat bug report page.

im not sure if i have a similar bug but whenever i go offline on the integrated facbook chat and then go back online and select a contact to cht through through im... it constantly makes duplicates, and also for contacts i have on the homescreen i have to keep selecting each contact and choose to sign into facebook in order to see them as online on thier display picture ( green dot)

Anyone using Jabber service for facebook chat? If yes, did you face similar issue?

I don't think this is an unmerge issue: Facebook seem to have changed the format of the uids. I use Jabber for Fb chat and have encountered this snag.

Yes it's not a bug with the N900, the same happened on my PC on Empahty.

there is no 'solution'as it is just a change in how facebook is creating their jabber ids. i suppose one could write a script to attempt re-merging automatically, though

oh no :-( i dont want to log on to jabber now iam going to have to merge about 500 contacts later

Yepp, same thing happened to me. Luckily i only had to merge about 50 contacts, i'm not that well-known ;-)

But its a pain in the butt, you're right. And its not a bug at all (at least not of our phone).

Worst thing is, that i really try to keep my contact list tidy, and this sort of things messes everything up.

Well, i think we'll have to live with it...
