Download the font (.ttf) and put it in folder 'documents' 2. Open X-Terminal (find in 'More') 3. Type 'mkdir ~/.fonts' 4. Enter 5. Type 'mv ~/MyDocs/.documents/(fonts' name).ttf ~/.fonts/' 6. Place them in /home/user/.fonts and you're done.
(Solution is from the forums, not sure where but I used it for my package) |

Re: How to install fonts(.ttf) to N900?
I am a complete newbie to Linux and programming. I'm in finance and numbers are more my game. However, I did follow the instructions to the letter on this and installed 2 fonts
1) Devnagari 2) AnmolUni I still can't install Tahoma as that is the 3rd font I need to view the web page correctly on my N900. Any ideas how I could install Tahoma or if there are any other alternatives for it? the web page is www.srigranth.org Really appreciate your help. Regards, Parmjit Singh |
Re: How to install fonts(.ttf) to N900?
After the Power search on the forums, I found the following thread (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=38541) and did like it was mentioned there. But the thread seems to end after the last post asked the same question that I am going to ask now.
Is there a method that will affect all the font sizes throughout the different apps and widgets etc.? The theme font size doesn’t seem to have an effect on many things. There was a mention about changing and replacing the system fonts with “your own fonts”. But I find it a little dangerous to do. And besides that, I have no idea which fonts should I put in place of the existing ones so that the change is for better? I mean, I’m happy with the current font style but the size is the problem. At my age, the fonts need to be at least twice the size they are currently used on the device ;) I have a normal WinXP laptop. If someone could kindly suggest some font from there (including the pointer to the directory to look into) which would be big enough as a replacement for the current system fonts in the device. After that, I could try the dangerous task of replacing the fonts of the device and keep my fingers crossed! |
