Association extensions in maemo
 
Is it possible to associate file extensions
to a software ?

many deffoults are wrong...
for exm:

1. in many video site when i click on video they open .asx file . by defult my n900 run the mediaplayer but he cant play (some not support error) . so i want to set .asx to play with kmplayer . (he can play great)

2. i want to set some txt formats files to open with notes app

there is a regstry file in maemo to set this??

.txt files already open with Notes, as far as I know.

Although the rest, I would like to know as well.

To answer OP's question,

Yes, this is called mime types, I dont know by heart where the mime type configuration is, but It should be in an arbitrary linux location, search google for mime types in linux or something, or search the forums because i know it has been answered here countless times.

Well, there's an executable /usr/bin/update-mime-database and another one called /usr/bin/tracker-register-mimetype which is meant to add and delete associations and there's /usr/share/mime directory. I think it's there.

Couldn't find the traditional /etc/mailcap though.

i traid to open tose 2 database files with notesl to edit them but it cant open corently...

how can i set asx files to kmplayer??

Edit "/usr/share/applications/defaults.list" file.

"application/x-ms-asx=hildon-mediaplayer.desktop"

what the corent line for kmplayer

application/x-ms-asx=hildon-kmplayer.desktop

this ok??

now he ask me "select app to run x.asx...."
even when i undo the changes steel "select app" show up

i also traid mp3,avi - same resols

help plz!!

maybe its cant possble to set 3part software but the beild in apps ?
