Flash 10.1 - Why so important?
 

Hello guys,

On this forum in particular, I often come across people who talk about the importance of Flash 10.1 coming to the N900. Maybe I am just the odd ignorant out but I have read little regarding WHY it is so important? How is it superior to Flash 9? How would it improve the browsing experiences on the N900?

What would it provide to the user? Does that mean it will be possible to play flash videos smoothly in the browser? Is there anything else? What exactly would it enable a user to do?

Videos, plus some sites have Flash based "weekly circulars" (ads for sales) that are painfully slow to render, which will hopefully run faster, along with the possibility of the Flash player working for streaming media on some sites (xm radio online, CarlCox.com, etc).

Not just smoother, but in theory with less power consumption

I don't care about video, what I care about is games. Go to kongregate.com or nitrome.com and try to play a game. If we had flash 10.1 then I wouldn't be troubled by the lack of games for the N900.

Don't think a simple update to 10.1 would let you play any game. I would say that most games from kongregate would still be a slideshow
